Connection Station Model CNS-1600 is a multiprotocol communicationsserver that connects serial ports and parallel ports onto an Ethernet.CNS-1600 features an Intel 960 RISC processor and a custom communicationsprocessor to provide performance far beyond competing multiport andterminal server products. All sixteen RS-423 asynchronous ports can beoperated simultaneously at data rates of up to 115.2 K baud. RS-423provides backwards compatibility with RS-232, but operates over longerdistances and supports higher data rates. In addition, two parallelprinter ports permit simultaneous operation of high-speed printers.Host connections are made through 10BaseT or AUI Ethernet ports. CNS-1600, a programmable device, provides connectivity for UNIX and NetWaresimultaneously. This means that UNIX users can share peripherals withNovell NetWare users.
